Heron Tower basements were built using Top-down Construction

This method enabled the tower and basements to be constructed above and below ground level at the same time.

Excavating below ground floor was achieved through a moling hole left in the ground floor and basement slabs. The basement slabs were supported through 15m deep pilecap shafts constructed prior to the ground floor. The tower consisted of 2 basement slabs, a ground floor slab and 46 floors above ground level.
