Southmead Hospital

Bristol

This state of the art hospital delivered via Private Finance Initiative (PFI) provided a new 800 bed hospital located within grounds of an existing hospital facility with phased demolition. The new hospital is approximately 110,000 m2 in area arranged over 3 – 8 storeys. The site slopes from Clinical block 1 to 9, resulting in ground level variations between level 0 & 1.

The new hospital is approximately 110,000 m2 in area arranged over 3 - 8 storeys.

These works were undertaken within an operational hospital that borders the site, a tight access point and a rapid programme, meaning multi handover and back dates with little or no space between the trades.

Byrne Bros. works consisted of reinforced concrete frame to the nine Clinical Blocks; including the pad foundations, underslab drainage and extensive utilities.
