Fourth Gold safety award win for Byrne Bros.

For the fourth year in a row Byrne Bros. has scooped a high-profile Gold RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards. The company won the Gold Award in recognition of its continued commitment to developing the highest standards of workplace health and safety.

Byrne Bros. achieves excellence in health and safety performance by creating an environment in which people know that we care, and they need to care about each other. Our philosophy of 'being our own and each others? safety advisor', means our employees feel confident and comfortable in approaching each other and their managers on safety matters. With all our people receiving at least 25 days of health and safety training every year, Byrne Bros. leads the way in developing a fully informed, protected workforce.

David Rawlins, RoSPA's awards manager, said: "Byrne Bros. has shown a commitment to protecting the health and well being of its employees and others. Organisations which do this deserve to have such dedication recognised and that's where the RoSPA Awards come in.

"As well as there being clear ethical reasons and legal requirements for good health and safety management, there is also a strong business case. RoSPA is delighted to publicly honour organisations which have demonstrated their work to improve performance in this sphere."

The Gold award will be presented at a ceremony at the Safety and Health Expo in May.

The RoSPA Awards scheme is not only about reducing the number of accidents and cases of ill-health at work; it also encourages organisations to develop robust health and safety management systems.
