SCOPE OF WORK
New office development behind retained fa?e. RC sub-structure with three RC cores and composite steel/concrete superstructure.
The project combines a 12-storey steel frame structure with composite concrete/steel floor slabs, which are constructed behind a retained fa?e; there are three lift cores. The construction programme has taken into account of access restrictions because of the narrow roads behind the existing building, and the speed of erection of the steel frame. Unilever plc, the current owner-occupier of the 350,000 sq ft site, vacated the premises to allow for its compete redevelopment. As a Grade II listed building, only the internal areas and rear fa?e will be modified, whilst the front fa?e facing Victoria Embankment will be carefully restored. The finished building will not only have a more efficient internal layout, increasing useable floor space, but will also incorporate the latest services to provide a modern, flexible working environment. The plant, housing lift and air-conditioning machinery, will be removed form the roof creating significantly improved views of St Paul's Cathedral and the key elements of the building were restored to its original design intent.
