Within Byrne Group we have a significant number of staff who have extensive aviation sector experience. Their experience covers a range of projects, locations, scope, scale and complexity. The majority of these staff have worked together on recent major projects, for example Heathrow Terminal 5, other UK BAA operated and independent airports. Byrne Group’s spinal cord is its vertically integrated supply chain. Our suppliers and subcontractors are essential part of the service we provide. They have all worked with Byrne Group over many years and understand our collective culture of providing customer satisfaction. The process is built on trust and a shared interest in lasting client relationships.
We understand that in the Aviation Sector there are trades (e.g security systems) where particular suppliers are already in post working on existing systems and maintenance contracts. Byrne Group would engage with these suppliers, assisted by the client’s Engineering Team to integrate within the project delivery environment and team. Procurement decisions must consider any short term gains in terms of ‘value’ loss/gain or risk to the end user. Early workshops with the Client’s Professional Team and the operational engineering and maintenance team are essential to ensure that all stakeholders have bought in to the procurement strategy. Our performance is essential part of meeting the clients expectations and at Byrne Group will be monitored as part of the project team’s daily routine. We have controls across all project governance areas to ensure that we understand progress, trend and potential future scenarios. We believe in visibility of these key performance indices, and would tailor any particular needs for integration with the Client’s performance measures. In this way all parties can focus on the project and issues in hand and avoid duplication wherever possible for management reporting. Our open book approach allows the client to rationalise their management team and avoid excessive project management costs.
It has long been recognised that system and component-led construction methods are the key to combating poor quality and ever reducing skill base in the industry. Furthermore, Design for Manafacture (Dfm) also assists significantly in reducing the dependency on site based resource and skills. Byrne Group is at the forefront of finding innovative solutions that offer greater utilisation of resources, faster delivery and lower lifecycle costs. This is achieved by establishing early involvement in a project and managing or value engineering through design for manufacturing, pre-assembly and lean thinking. When working in constricted sites where space is at a premium our approach to component led construction and Dfm allows us to plan at a level of detail appropriate for ‘daily work packages’ and maximize productivity levels. This translates into the aviation sector, with space also at a premium for aircraft stands, associated equipment, deliveries and security checks choking shared operational access routes. Byrne Group is well versed in the art of logistics solutions and management and believe it is the life blood for the majority of Projects.
